Float Therapy in Belconnen, Canberra

Zero-gravity relaxation in an open float tank, without the closed-in feel of a pod.

Lakeside Wellness has an open float tank in Belconnen, Canberra. It is more spacious and less confining than a traditional pod. You float in warm water heated to skin temperature and mixed with Epsom salts, so you can let go, switch off and give your body and mind a proper rest.

Floating suits people of all ages and lifestyles, from busy professionals to active people looking for recovery. If you are new to it, our First Floaters package makes it easy to try.

What is float therapy?

Float therapy, also called floatation therapy, is floating in warm, salty water in a calm, private space. The Epsom salts keep you comfortably afloat, and because the water is heated to skin temperature you can switch off from the world around you.

Our tank is open, so it is more spacious and less confining than a traditional pod.

What to expect at your first float

  1. 1

    Before you arrive

Avoid caffeine and large meals beforehand.

  2. 2

    Before you get in

Avoid oils, lotions and makeup on your skin. Towels and earplugs are provided.

  3. 3

    Settle in

You will have a calm, private space and control over the light and music, including a starlit ceiling. Most people float unclothed in private, but swimwear is fine if you prefer.

  4. 4

    Float

A standard float is one hour, and serious floaters may prefer 90 minutes. We recommend the complimentary earplugs, as salt water can leave moisture in the ear canal.

    Build the benefits

Benefits usually build over three sessions, so plan on three floats to feel the full effect.
