At our wellness centre in Canberra we have a 2-person far-infrared sauna from Sunlighten Saunas. Far-Infrared (FIR) is the longest wavelength and reaches deepest into the body where toxins are stored. By raising your core body temperature, FIR stimulates the sweat glands resulting in a deep, detoxifying sweat that leaves you feeling revitalised and renewed.

General Sauna Session Guidelines and What to Expect

  • Pre-Sauna – Hydrate with at least one glass of water to prepare your body for an increase in core temperature (filtered water is provided).
  • Sessions are a maximum of 45 minutes long. Begin your session when the sauna reaches 38°C.
  • The optimal sauna experience occurs between 38°C and 58°C.
  • To get your body accustomed to infrared therapy, start with a shorter session at 38°C and build up.
  • Don’t be surprised if you don’t sweat during the first few sessions. Sweating will increase with regular use, removing toxins and leaving you feeling refreshed and rejuvenated.
  • Post Sauna – please drink at least 750ml of water or electrolyte to rehydrate.
  • We recommend drying off with the provided towel and cooling down naturally before having a shower. (Please note we do not have shower facilities at our premises).
  • We recommend you bring loose, comfortable clothing to change into after your sauna.
